PARAM, HASHASSM

Bulk Data Entry Enables hash-table based assembly.

Parameter Values Description
HASHASSM <YES, NO> The hash-table based assembly method reduces the memory requirement of the assembly module by about a factor of 3 for linear static analyses, by about a factor of 5 for eigenvalue analyses, and by about a factor of 7 for frequency response analyses involving material damping.

The reduction in the overall memory requirement is problem-dependent. For problems where modules other than the assembly module are dictating the overall memory requirement, using this alternative assembly method will not result in a reduction in the overall memory requirement.

Using the hash-table based assembly method while possibly reducing memory requirements may result in longer run times.

YES
The hash-table based assembly method is used. 1
NO
The hash-table based assembly method is not used.

Comments

  1. Some examples of when the hash-table assembly method is automatically activated are:
    • STATSUB (BUCKLING/PRELOAD/BRAKE) points to a large displacement nonlinear subcase.
    • Large displacement nonlinear analysis involves finite sliding contact.
    • Large displacement nonlinear analysis with DDM.
