SWLDPRM, PATEXT

Bulk Data Entry Extends the search for a patch of shell elements that support auxiliary points for CWELD with PARTPAT and ELPAT options and for CFAST elements (this is not supported for CSEAM elements).

Definitions

PATEXT <YES, NO>
YES
The original patch is extended (by consecutive layers of connected shells) until the radius of the patch reaches the locations of auxiliary points.
NO (Default)
The direct neighbor patch is used, consisting of all elements connected to core shell SHIDA and SHIDB via a shared node (on a regular quad mesh, this is a 9-element patch).

Comments

  1. When activated, may still fail to find projections of auxiliary points. For example, when the weld is close to the edge of the domain. NREDIA and GSMOVE, when specified are then activated to adjust the locations of auxiliary points into a feasible projection range.
