Isosurface Implicit Fields
Extract an isosurface from any implicit body or field.
Extract an isosurface from any implicit body or field. Select a single or range of values to set as the isosurface and which side of the isosurface to set as the solid region. This tool can be used to wrap a surface around a field containing analysis results.
-
On the Implicit Modeling ribbon, select the
Isosurface tool.
Tip: To find and open a tool, press Ctrl+F. For more information, see Find and Search for Tools. The Implicit Isosurface guide panel is shown: - Optional: For Visualization Quality, select from Low to Very High quality, which corresponds to a low to very high density of elements. A higher quality produces sharper geometry features but is more computationally intensive. When creating a complicated function, it’s recommended to work using a lower quality and then switch to a higher quality after the function is complete.
- Use the Field collector to select an object to extract and isosurface from. You can select a Parasolid, STL, PolyNURBS, or implicit geometry (both solid bodies or fields).
-
Use the Field Value dropdown to select which inequality
type to use for defining where the surface will be created from the field. For
example, extracting an isosurface from the following velocity field from Fluids
results will create different solid and void regions depending on which
inequality is chosen.
Option Description Less Than or Equal To Creates a surface at the specified value and creates a solid body everywhere the value is lower than the specified value. Greater Than or Equal To Creates a surface at the specified value and creates a solid body everywhere the value is lower than the specified value. Between Creates two surfaces, one at each specified value, with a solid region forming between the Lower Value and Upper Value. Not Between Creates two surfaces, one at each specified value, with a empty region forming between the Lower Value and Upper Value. - Optional: Select Remap to rescale the values in the newly created field to be distance values to the surface(s).
