SOLIDWORKS Import Options

SimLab supports import of SOLIDWORKS files upto version SOLIDWORKS 2024. Various import options in SOLIDWORKS are explained below.

  • Body Name

    Body name of the SOLIDWORKS files can be read into SimLab by enabling the Body Name option.

  • Sheet

    Sheet bodies can be imported using this option. By default, Solid bodies will be imported into SimLab.

  • Sketch and wireframe

    Sketches and wireframes can be imported into SimLab as wire bodies by enabling this option.

  • Color

    Color assigned to faces in SOLIDWORKS model can be imported into SimLab by enabling this option. This color infromation can be used in color based mesh control.

  • Assembly Structure

    The assembly structure in the SOLIDWORKS files can be imported by enabling the Assembly Structure toggle. By default, when importing assembly structure, body names in SOLIDWORKS file will also be read. Refer the following link to know more about Assembly Structure.

  • Facets

    SOLIDWORKS files can be imported directly as faceted geometry.
