AutoCAD Import Options

SimLab supports import of AutoCAD files upto version AutoCAD 2025. Solid, sheet and wire bodies will be imported by default. Various import options in AutoCAD are explained below.

Note:
  • To import AutoCAD files in Linux, motif library (system component) must be installed. If using CentOS, then motif library can be installed using the following command: sudo yum install motif. For other Linux distribution, use corresponding standard way to install motif shared library.


  • Native Geometry: Imports as AutoCAD file itself and no editing of geometry is possible.
  • Convert to Parasolid: AutoCAD file will be converted to Parasolid and imported. Users will be able to edit this geometry.
  • Sketch: The AutoCAD file will be created as Sketch on enabling this option.
  • Sheet: The closed loops in the AutoCAD file will be created as a sheet on enabling this option.
  • Facet: The AutoCAD file can be imported directly as faceted geometry.
