Measurement Tool
Introduction
The Measure tools can be used to measure distance, radius, angles and bounding box. Measurements are taken in the default unit system.
Distance
- The Measure Distance tool is used to measure the distance between two points, topological Entities and FEM entities
- User can view X, Y and Z distances by clicking the left mouse button over the distance message.
- The cursor changes to
as you turn on distance tool.
- User can choose combination of entity type through vertical tool list or right
click popup menu as shown below.
- Vertical tool list
- Right click popup menu
- If model has coordinate system. It will display coordinate options in right
click popup menu.
- Vertical tool list
The following combination entity type available for measure distance.
Options | Description |
---|---|
Arc - Arc | Distance between two Arc (Edge) centers. |
Arc - Vertex | Distance between Arc (Edge) center and an vertex. |
Node - Node | Distance between two nodes. |
Face - Node | Shortest distance between a face and a node. |
Plane - Node | Distance between a plane and a node. Select an element to define the plane. |
FaceEdge- Node | Shortest distance between a topological edge and a node. |
ElementEdge - Node | Shortest distance between an element edge and a node. |
Face - Face | Shortest distance between two faces. Supported for both CAD and FEM. |
Edge - Edge | Shortest distance between two edges. Supported for both CAD and FEM. |
Body - Body |
Shortest distance between two bodies. Supported for both CAD and FEM. |
Node - Vertex | Distance between a node and a vertex. |
Example
Radius
- The Measure Radius tool is used to measure the radius defined by three nodes, three vertices and arc edge.
- User can choose combination of entity type through vertical tool list or right click
popup menu as shown below.
- Vertical tool list.
- Right click popup menu.
- Vertical tool list.
- The following combination entity type available for measure radius.
- Between 3 vertices: To find the radius between three vertices.
- Between 3 nodes: To find the radius between three nodes.
- Arc Edge: To find the radius for an arc edge.
- Face: To find the radius of the cylindrical and conical faces.
Example
Angle
- The Measure Angle tool is used to measure an angle defined by nodes, vertices, elements, element edges and topological edges.
- The cursor changes to
as you turn on angle tool.
- User can choose combination of entity type through vertical tool list or right
click popup menu as shown below.
- Vertical tool list
- Right click popup menu.
- Vertical tool list
- The following combination entity type available for measure angle.
- Between 3 Nodes: To find the angle between the lines formed by three
nodes as shown below.
- Between 2 elements: To find the angle between two elements. It gives
the angle between the element normal.
- Between 2 element edges / face edges: To find the angle formed by
the two element edges or the topological edges.
- Arc Edge: To find the arc segment angle.
- Between 3 Nodes: To find the angle between the lines formed by three
nodes as shown below.
Box
- The Measure Box tool is used to measure dimensions of the bounding box for selected bodies.
- The cursor changes to
as you turn on box tool.
