JT Import Options
SimLab supports reading of JT files. Various import options in JT are explained below.
- Body
- Solid: 3dimension body can be imported by selecting the Solid option.
- Sheet: 2dimension body can be imported by selecting the Sheet option.
- Material
Materials assigned to part can be imported by selecting this toggle.
- Groups
Groups in the JT file can be imported as SimLab groups using this option.
- Facets
JT files can be imported directly as faceted geometry.
- Retain geometry name
In a JT file, each body can have two names: one specified in the JT data and another in the underlying geometry data. When this option is enabled, the name from the underlying geometry data is used; otherwise, the name from the JT data is used.
- Layers
JT file format allows grouping of different geometry elements known as Layers.
- All bodies: All the bodies in the JT file are imported into SimLab.
- Layer: Layers if present in the JT file is listed in the drop-down menu. User can select the Layer and import it into SimLab.
SimLab supports the import of JT assembly files. Since both assembly and part files in the JT format share the same file extension, distinguishing between them based solely on the extension is not possible. Therefore, it is important for users to select the correct assembly file during the import process.
