  - Antenna Placement
    This example considers the application of placing an antenna using an equivalent source on a large object.
    - Example Overview
      This example shows how to define and set up an antenna placement solution in Altair SimLab using a Cessna-172 aircraft. A GPS antenna is placed on the aircraft using an equivalent source defined from a .ffe file. The model is solved using the Ray Launching Geometrical Optics (RL-GO), and the results are displayed.

      Before starting this example, ensure that the system satisfies the minimum requirements.

      Change the model units to meters, kilograms, and seconds.

      Specify the number of cores to speed up the meshing process.

      Import the CAD model of the Cessna aircraft. The CAD model contains only one side of the aircraft.

Importing the Model

Import the CAD model of the Cessna aircraft. The CAD model contains only one side of the aircraft.

Note: The meshed model will be mirrored in subsequent steps to create the complete Cessna model.

On the File tab, click Import > CAD.
In the file browser, browse to the location of Cessna.xmt_x_t and click Open.
On the Import Parasolid dialog, select the following options and click OK to close the dialog.

The CAD model is imported and displayed in the graphics window.

The imported faces and bodies are displayed in the Assembly Browser.
