Preserve Entities

The automated meshing process can collapse sliver edges and faces. The mesher will decide which one to preserve and which one to collapse. Using preserve entities mesh control, the user can control the features to be preserved while meshing.

There are four types of preserve entities.
  1. Face Shape

This option is used to retain the planarity of the face after meshing. The nodes in the face will not get moved out of the face.

  2. Face Edges

This option is used to retain all the edges of the face after meshing. This means that tiny edges on the faces will be preserved and the face will not get collapsed.

  3. Edges

This option is used when only few edges of a face, are to be preserved when meshing.

  4. Mesh

This option is used to maintain the existing mesh in the face/topological edge during the local remesh.

Note: If Preserve Mesh is applied to a face adjacent to the face with Isoline mesh control, then the preference will be given to the face with Isoline mesh control over the Preserve Mesh.
