Introduction

CAD files like Parasolid, STEP, CATIA, Creo, JT, NX, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, ACIS, AutoCAD and ECAD can be imported directly into SimLab without any data loss. Also, CAD files can be translated into Parasolid or STEP.

Parasolid

This option is used to import Parasolid files with extension *.xmt_txt, *.x_t and *.x_b.

STEP

STEP files with extensions *.stp and *.step can be imported into SimLab.

CATIA

This option is used to import CATIA files with extensions *.CATPart and *.CATProduct. Refer the following link to know more about the various CATIA import options.

Creo

This option is used to import Creo part and assembly files with extensions *.prt and *.asm. Creo import allows the user to specify Body type, Entities (Co-ordinates or Datum points), Design parameters, Instance of a part, Simplified presenattion, Geometric approximation (Exact Geom or Facets) and Import Assembly Structure.

JT

This option is used to import JT files with extension *.jt written out from various modeling softwares.

NX

This option is used to import NX files with extension *.prt. NX import allows the user to specify Units, Body type, Groups and Import Assembly Structure.

SOLIDWORKS

This option is used to import SOLIDWORKS files with extension *.SLDPRT and *.SLDASM.

Inventor

This option is used to import Inventor files with extension *.ipt and *.iam.

ACIS

This option is used to import ACIS files with extension *.sat.

This option is used to import AutoCAD files with extension *.DXF and *.DWG.

This option is used to import Electronics CAD or ECAD files with extension *.tgz, *.tar, *.zip, *.pcb, *.pcbdoc, *.xml and *.cvg.

Translate to Parasolid through Spatial

Various CAD format files are converted into Parasolid file using the Spatial Translator and then the converted Parasolid file is imported into SimLab.

Translate to Parasolid through CT

Various CAD format files are converted into Parasolid file using the CT translator and then the converted Parasolid file is imported into SimLab.
