TIM/Spreader

Thermal interface material (TIM) is a smart object used to define the thermal interface region and enhance the thermal conductivity between surfaces in electronic devices and systems.

Description
  • TIMs fill the microscopic gaps and irregularities between surfaces, providing a more efficient thermal path for heat transfe.r
  • This helps in transferring heat from heat-generating components to heat sinks or other cooling devices.
  • TIM can be applied directly on surfaces (On surface option) or between solids (On solid-to-solid interface option).
  • Depending on the option used, the mouse selection control will automatically change to Face or Body pick.
  • In Solid selection mode, multiple solids can be selected at once and the resistance will be applied in all interfaces between selected solids.
  • The resistance value is given by specifying a thickness and a material.
  • TIMs can be created in surfaces between two solids, or in surfaces exposed to a fluid (ambient air or liquid cooling)
