Convection
Introduction
This tool is used to define heat transfer from surfaces due to convection. The film condition (temperature and heat transfer coefficient) which defines surface heating or cooling due to convection by surrounding fluids can be defined.

Description
- Convection heat transfer coefficient can be applied to to one or multiple surfaces.
- This option is designed for use in non-CFD solution mode; if applied in CFD mode the selected surfaces are isolated from the CFD solution and the applied convection coefficient will be honored.
- The ambient temperature and the heat transfer coefficient can be defined as a
varying boundary condition using a multiplier table.
- There are three types of multiplier tables:
- Time - Multiplier value varies as a function of time.
- Iteration - Multiplier value varies as a function of the iteration.
- Sensor – Multiplier value varies based on the selected sensor output.
- Thermostat - Multiplier value varies based on the ON/OFF status of the selected thermostat.
