Response Spectrum

Analysis > Loads > Response Spectrum

This tool is used to define the response spectra characteristic, i.e... damping value, direction of the spectrum, type of the spectrum and the associated transient excitation responses.

Description
  1. A response spectrum is a graph that shows the maximum response, whether displacement, velocity, or acceleration of multiple oscillators with different natural frequencies, all subjected to the same base excitation such as a vibration or shock.
  2. The damping value is in the units of fraction of critical damping.
  3. Define Vector is used to define the excitation direction.
  4. Under Spectrum Type, the input spectrum can be specified of either displacement/velocity or acceleration type.
  5. Excitation table define response as a function of frequency.
