Force and Moment

Analysis > Loads > Force and Moment

This tool is used to apply force and moment loads.

Description

  1. Force can be applied on nodes/edges(edge nodes)/faces(face nodes).
  2. When applying on edges/faces, the load can be distributed among the edge/face nodes by the following methods
    1. Use Shape Function - For edges, bar element shape functions are used whereas for faces, Tri/Quad element shape functions are used.
    2. Divide equally on all nodes - The specified force values are divided equally among the edge/face nodes.
    3. Node force on each node - The specified force values are assigned directly to each of the edge/face nodes.
  3. As a function of XYZ option is used to apply a spatially varying force and moment load. The spatial force data has to be of the format X,Y,Z,Fx,Fy,Fz,Mx,My,Mz.
  4. Moment can be applied on nodes alone.

  5. Force marker height reflects the magnitude of load on the model.
