EDEM Analyst
EDEM Analyst is the post-processor used to analyze and visualize the results of your simulation.
Export Data
You can export the data collected during your simulation for analysis using queries. Data can be exported from a single Time Step, a range of Time Steps, from all elements in your model, or from a selection or bin group.
Simulation Deck
You can export the simulation deck during your simulation. Exporting a deck allows it to be transferred to another location and run using identical simulation parameters.

About EDEM

Get Started with EDEM
The EDEM user interface comprises three icons for each simulation component - Creator, Simulator, and Analyst.
EDEM Creator
EDEM Creator is the pre-processor for creating an EDEM simulation model, including setting up equipment and defining the generation of bulk materials.
EDEM Simulator
EDEM Simulator is a powerful solver used for fast and efficient simulations.
EDEM Analyst
EDEM Analyst is the post-processor used to analyze and visualize the results of your simulation.
- Analyst Tree-Display
  Analyst Tree-Display allows you to configure the display of your model in the Viewer. You can visualize Cylindrical Periodic Boundary conditions from the Geometries section.
- Analyst Tree-Setup Selections
  Analyst Tree-Selections allows you to extract data from a particular area or element in the domain.
- Analyst Tree-Tools
  Analyst Tree-Tools comprises the Ruler, Protractor, and Domain Grid.
- Analyst Tree-Clipping
  Analyst Tree-Clipping allows you to remove or clip areas of the model that are currently not of interest.

- Export Data

    You can export the simulation deck during your simulation. Exporting a deck allows it to be transferred to another location and run using identical simulation parameters.

    You can export specific data collected during your simulation for analysis using general settings or queries.
  - Continuum Data
    You can export Continuum data during your simulation and analyze your simulation data as a Continuum instead of discrete particles. You can also analyze particle data using Continuum-based theories.
  - HyperMesh Data
    You can export pressure and force data on a specific Geometry in text format suitable for HyperMesh import during your simulation.
  - SimSolid Data
    You can export data export force data on a specific Geometry in text format suitable for SimSolid import during your simulation.
  - ANSYS Workbench Data
    You can export pressure and force data on a specific Geometry in text format suitable for ANSYS Workbench import during your simulation.
  - Data to STL
    You can export Geometries and particles to a CAD file during your simulation.
  - Breakage Particle Size Distribution
    You can export the size distribution of particles produced when using the Breakage model.
  - Images
    You can export images collected during your simulation.
- Continuum Analysis
  Continuum Analysis allows you to view and analyze your simulation data as a Continuum instead of discrete particles.
- Perform Spray Coating Analysis
  The EDEM spray coating post-processing tools use a ray tracing approach that offer key advantages over the legacy Spray Coating model.
- Graphs
  EDEM Analyst allows you to plot the data collected during your simulation using a number of charts.

Simulation Deck

You can export the simulation deck during your simulation. Exporting a deck allows it to be transferred to another location and run using identical simulation parameters.

To export a simulation deck:

Navigate to File > Export > Simulation Deck.
Specify a name for the deck and then click Save.

In the Export Options dialog box, specify the following:

Export Custom Properties	Select the checkbox to include some of the custom property data from the deck.
Reset Factories	Select the checkbox if you do not want the factory to set as completed. If you set the Start Time prior to the factory Start Time, this factory will restart in the new simulation deck. If you do not select the checkbox, you can remove the factory history from the exported simulation file. For example, if a dynamic factory is set to create X kg of a material starting at 1s, and the factory has run so that this mass of material has been created, EDEM sets the factory as completed.
Simulation Time
Set Simulation Time	Select the checkbox to change the displayed simulation time of the exported input deck. Enter the Start Time in seconds. Note: This does not change simulation results and is designed to help during coupling to other CAE tools with different simulation times.

Click OK to save the simulation deck.
