About EDEM
EDEM is a high-performance simulation software for bulk and granular materials.
Get Started with EDEM
The EDEM user interface comprises three icons for each simulation component - Creator, Simulator, and Analyst.
EDEM Creator
EDEM Creator is the pre-processor for creating an EDEM simulation model, including setting up equipment and defining the generation of bulk materials.
EDEM Simulator
EDEM Simulator is a powerful solver used for fast and efficient simulations.
EDEM Analyst
EDEM Analyst is the post-processor used to analyze and visualize the results of your simulation.
- Analyst Tree-Display
  Analyst Tree-Display allows you to configure the display of your model in the Viewer. You can visualize Cylindrical Periodic Boundary conditions from the Geometries section.
- Analyst Tree-Setup Selections
  Analyst Tree-Selections allows you to extract data from a particular area or element in the domain.
- Analyst Tree-Tools
  Analyst Tree-Tools comprises the Ruler, Protractor, and Domain Grid.
- Analyst Tree-Clipping
  Analyst Tree-Clipping allows you to remove or clip areas of the model that are currently not of interest.
- Analyst Tree-Field
  Analyst Tree-Field allows you to define the way fields are displayed.
- Review Your Simulation
  EDEM Analyst allows you to review and examine your simulation.
- Export Data
  You can export the data collected during your simulation for analysis using queries. Data can be exported from a single Time Step, a range of Time Steps, from all elements in your model, or from a selection or bin group.
- Continuum Analysis
  Continuum Analysis allows you to view and analyze your simulation data as a Continuum instead of discrete particles.
- Perform Spray Coating Analysis
  The EDEM spray coating post-processing tools use a ray tracing approach that offer key advantages over the legacy Spray Coating model.
- Graphs
  EDEM Analyst allows you to plot the data collected during your simulation using a number of charts.
  - Create a Histogram
    A Histogram is a display of grouped frequency distributions, such as the number of particles traveling in particular velocity ranges. The Select Element section is used to determine which elements to collect data from. You can select the group or type of elements.
  - Create a Scatter Graph
    A Scatter graph displays the distribution of two variables that have a strong correlation to one another.
  - Create a Pie Chart
    A Pie chart is a pictorial representation of data in the form of a circular chart or pie, where each slice of the pie represents a category or subset of the data (part of the whole).
  - Create a Line Graph
    A Line graph helps visualize trends and values over a specific period of time, such as the number of particles in a simulation. The Select Element section helps determine which elements in your model to collect data from.
EDEM Contact Models
A Contact Model describes how elements behave when they come into contact with each other.
EDEM Cal Utility
EDEM Cal is a utility which works with EDEM and is designed to assist in performing calibration.
GPU CUDA Guide
The EDEM CUDA GPU module uses the latest General Purpose Computing on Graphical Processing Units (GPU) technology.

Coupling Interface Programming Guide

EDEMpy
EDEMpy is a Python library for accessing EDEM data from .h5 files (the underlying EDEM file format). EDEMpy does not require prior knowledge of advanced programming.

Graphs

EDEM Analyst allows you to plot the data collected during your simulation using a number of charts.

Using the toolbar icons, select Analyst and then switch between the 3D Viewer and Create Graph mode.

When you select the Create Graph mode, the Graph tab replaces the standard tabs and the graph is displayed in the Viewer. The Graph pane has four tabs, one for each of the following chart types:
