You can export the data collected during your simulation for analysis using queries. Data can be exported from a single Time Step, a range of Time Steps, from all elements in your model, or from a selection or bin group.

About EDEM
EDEM is a high-performance simulation software for bulk and granular materials.
Get Started with EDEM
The EDEM user interface comprises three icons for each simulation component - Creator, Simulator, and Analyst.
EDEM Creator
EDEM Creator is the pre-processor for creating an EDEM simulation model, including setting up equipment and defining the generation of bulk materials.
EDEM Simulator
EDEM Simulator is a powerful solver used for fast and efficient simulations.
EDEM Analyst
EDEM Analyst is the post-processor used to analyze and visualize the results of your simulation.
- Analyst Tree-Display
  Analyst Tree-Display allows you to configure the display of your model in the Viewer. You can visualize Cylindrical Periodic Boundary conditions from the Geometries section.
- Analyst Tree-Setup Selections
  Analyst Tree-Selections allows you to extract data from a particular area or element in the domain.
- Analyst Tree-Tools
  Analyst Tree-Tools comprises the Ruler, Protractor, and Domain Grid.
- Analyst Tree-Clipping
  Analyst Tree-Clipping allows you to remove or clip areas of the model that are currently not of interest.

  Analyst Tree-Field allows you to define the way fields are displayed.
- Review Your Simulation
  EDEM Analyst allows you to review and examine your simulation.
- Export Data
  You can export the data collected during your simulation for analysis using queries. Data can be exported from a single Time Step, a range of Time Steps, from all elements in your model, or from a selection or bin group.
  - Simulation Deck
    You can export the simulation deck during your simulation. Exporting a deck allows it to be transferred to another location and run using identical simulation parameters.
  - Results Data
    You can export specific data collected during your simulation for analysis using general settings or queries.
  - Continuum Data
    You can export Continuum data during your simulation and analyze your simulation data as a Continuum instead of discrete particles. You can also analyze particle data using Continuum-based theories.
  - HyperMesh Data
    You can export pressure and force data on a specific Geometry in text format suitable for HyperMesh import during your simulation.
  - SimSolid Data
    You can export data export force data on a specific Geometry in text format suitable for SimSolid import during your simulation.
  - ANSYS Workbench Data
    You can export pressure and force data on a specific Geometry in text format suitable for ANSYS Workbench import during your simulation.
  - Data to STL
    You can export Geometries and particles to a CAD file during your simulation.
  - Breakage Particle Size Distribution
    You can export the size distribution of particles produced when using the Breakage model.
  - Images
    You can export images collected during your simulation.
- Continuum Analysis
  Continuum Analysis allows you to view and analyze your simulation data as a Continuum instead of discrete particles.
- Perform Spray Coating Analysis
  The EDEM spray coating post-processing tools use a ray tracing approach that offer key advantages over the legacy Spray Coating model.
- Graphs
  EDEM Analyst allows you to plot the data collected during your simulation using a number of charts.

A Contact Model describes how elements behave when they come into contact with each other.
EDEM Cal Utility
EDEM Cal is a utility which works with EDEM and is designed to assist in performing calibration.

EDEMpy

Data to STL

You can export Geometries and particles to a CAD file during your simulation.

To export data to STL:

Navigate to File > Export > Export Data to STL.

In the Export Data to STL dialog box, specify the following details:


For	Specify
Export Data from
Particles	Select to export data from particles.
Geometry	Select to export data from Geometries.
Both	Select to export both Geometries and particles.
Export particles using
Spheres	Select to export Multi-Sphere shapes.
Template	Select to apply an input CAD template to the particle.
Particle Output file (.stl)	Click to navigate to the particle output file that generates a name for the exported .stl.
Global Particle Scale	Select a value from the dropdown list to apply a single value scale to the spheres/templates. This will use the correct particle position but adjust the size of the particles based on the input scale.
Timestep Selection
Particle Timestep	Select the appropriate Time Step for the particle export.

Click Export to write the .axdt file containing the load data for importing into ANSYS Workbench and the file containing the information on the particle manual selection.
