Mesh Displacement

Analysis > Mesh Motion > Displacement

This option is used to specify mesh boundary conditions for a set of element faces.

  • Type
The different mesh displacement types are specified:
    • Fixed - Mesh is fixed.

    • Planar slip - Mesh slips tangentially along the wall of a planar surface. An error will be issued if the surface is not planar.

    • Flexible body - The modal displacement (Eigen values) of the structural faces can be used to predict the mesh movement.
The flexible body mesh boundary condition is used to perform the Practical Fluid Structure Interface (PFSI) analysis. This can be done by following the below steps.
      • Create and solve the modal analysis solution for the structural body.
      • Create a CFD solution and setup the CFD problem with boundary conditions. Right click on the Boundary conditions header in the CFD solution and create a Flexible Body from the Modal solution.

      • User can modify the number of modes to be considered in the Flexible body after creation. Currently, maximum number of modes can be mapped is limited to 20.

  • Select faces

Select the faces on which the mesh boundary condition needs to be applied.
