Create Solid Weld Bead
Dialog Box

This option will create solid weld bead with Hex/wedge elements or tet elements or seam weld bead(butt-joint type weld locations) with tet elements.
User can define this bead cross section with toe side leg lengths and number element layers in both toe sides.
In addition to toe side definitions, user can define boundary offset distance and number of element layers to create boundary offset faces.
The created weld bead will follow the same mesh size as in guide edges along guide path direction.
If the given guide path is open loop, then it will create flat end bead for hex type bead. For tet type bead, end cap is optional.
The gap between the toe side 1 and toe side 2 will be maintained based on given gap tolerance. If the gap is more than the given tolerance value, then the gap will be maintained in the weld bead with one layer of elements.
The User can bring in a weld cross section mesh template of their choice and create hex weld bead using "Use template mesh" option. User can keep this template mesh at any location and in any model. Weld face in the template mesh must be three-edged face. Gap face in the template mesh must be four-sided face with iso-quad mesh. “Create weld bead root edge group” will create group out of the weld bead body root edges.
Guide edgesUser can select the topology edges as guide edges. Bead cross section will be swept along the path of these edges.

The user given gap tolerance is less than the actual gap in the weld root location. So, gap is maintained.
The user given gap tolerance is greater than the actual gap in the weld root location. So, gap is collapsed.
