Create Air Gap

Advanced > Electromagnetics > Simplification > Create Air Gap

Introduction

This tool helps to extract the fixed and rotating air regions between the stator and rotor bodies. It allows users to extract the air regions for both inner and outer rotor motor types. It is supported only for the Parasolid model imported with “Save geometry in database”.

Rotor bodies

Select the rotor bodies as input.

Stator bodies

Select the stator bodies as input.

Stator tooth inner face

Select an inner cylindrical face as reference input from the stator body.

Consider Wedge Region

Turn on this toggle to extract the wedge area air with the fixed air region.

  • Stator slot opening edges

Select the reference slot opening edges from the stator body.

Consider Surface Magnets

Turn on this toggle to extract the surface magnet air with the rotating air region.

  • Edge along magnet thickness

Select the reference magnet edge from the rotor body.

Create Sliding Body

Utilize this toggle to generate sliding bodies at the rotor ends. In the case of the selected end, the user should provide the corresponding reference end face from the rotor.

Note: It creates groups for the cylindrical and end faces in the rotating air body.
