CD-Tire Resizing
CD Tire includes the resizing feature where you can automatically resize the tire used in the model to a different size. To use this feature, you need to specify the reference (tire used in the model) tire size and the target tire size in the tire property file is a section with the header -TIRE_AND_RIM_RESIZING.
Please note that the resizing feature is licensed. See the CDTire Modeling topic for additional details on licensing.
The following example illustrates the format for using this
feature:
[TIRE_AND_RIM_RESIZING]
TIRE_REF = 205/50R16 #Reference tire specification
RIM_REF = 16x6 #Reference rim specification
TIRE_NEW = 225/45R17 #Target tire specification
RIM_NEW = 17x7 #Target rim specification
For more information see the CD-Tire User Manual.
Guidelines While Using the Resizing Option
During resizing, tire construction and material are assumed to be the same before and after
resizing. User discretion is advised. For reasonable results, the guidelines below need to
be followed if you wish to resize a tire in your simulation.
- Acceptable change to the parameter aspect ratio is 5%. A change of 10% will compromise the results. Anything above this is not recommended.
- Standalone changes to the rim radius or tire width do not have a specific restriction, but user judgement is advised.
Overall, the objective of the resizing feature is to provide the flexibility to use a slightly different sized tire in your simulations that can produce estimated results.
