Axisymmetry

Reduce a full 3D model with axisymmetric surfaces while accounting for imperfections.

This is useful in the pre-design thermal analysis of something like turbomachinery parts.

Since source solids may not be perfectly axisymmetric around a spin axis, this tool provides a way to imprint some details onto axisymmetric surfaces.

This will delimit region boundaries for the mesh. An algorithm (available in Volume Reduction) accounts for a volume reduction factor to capture the correct volume while spinning elements around an axis.

Example Use

In the model below, there are six bosses with pockets. The solid does not have a pure axis of revolution.
