Streamlines

Results > Tools > Streamlines

Streamlines tool is used to generate streamlines using velocity vector components for Flow simulation results.

Rake Type

  • Line - A Line rake is defined by two end points. Pick two points directly from the model in the modelling window.
  • Planar Surface - Pick a face to define the area rake type.
  • Plane - Rake defined using plane.

Number of seeds: Enter the number of desired seeds.

Integration mode: Select the integration mode for the rake from the Integration mode drop-down menu.

  • Downstream - Integration is done following the velocity field direction.
  • Upstream - Integration is done upstream, or opposite, to the velocity field direction.
  • Both - Integration is done both downstream and upstream.

Vector display

This option is used to display the streamlines as vectors and we can control the number of vectors by specifying the density percentage.

Tube display

This option draws the streamlines as tubes instead of lines, with control over the tube radius.

Add Rake : Click on Add rake button to create a Rake.

Delete Rake : Select a rake from the Rakes list and delete the rake, this will remove the rake and its corresponding streamline geometry from modelling window.

Create Streamlines : After creating the rakes, select any one rake from list and click the Create Streamlines button to create and view the streamlines.

Delete Streamlines : Select the rake from rake list and delete the streamline, any existing streamlines for the selected rake are deleted from the model.

Advanced : The Advanced Options dialog allows you to specify a number of parameters which control how the streamlines are generated. Refer the following link about the details of Advanced Options.
