Strain Gauge
This option is to determine the Strain/Stress value at particular point (Centre) in the given direction. Inputs for this option are the following.
- Two Nodes (Gauge Center Node, Gauge Direction Node)
- Strain/Stress Gauge Dimensions (Length and Width).
This tool will calculate the Strain at the center node point in the given direction vector (from Center node to Direction Node). If more than one node falls in the gauge dimension, average of the strain for all nodes is calculated. Calculated normal strain will be displayed in the Dialog Box.

Calculated Normal Stress and Stress/Strain values in Gauge direction and perpendicular direction will be printed on Output window.

Select
-
Centre node - Node for which Strain value would be calculated.
-
Define Direction - Define the direction for directional purpose.
Dimension
Bounded region is formed around the Centre Node based on the Length, Width values given by the user. Length will be calculated in the defined direction. Average of the Strain at the nodes covered by the region is the Normal Strain at the Centre Node.
Export
Calculated Normal stress/strain values in Gauge direction and perpendicular direction will be exported as text file.
-
To calculate the Strain, the strain results should be read already.
-
Strain will be shown in scientific format
