Operations of the Circuit Designer Context

Opening, closing, and saving

The circuit editor ribbon will appear automatically once either of the following solutions are created
  • Transient Magnetic 2D
  • Transient Magnetic 3D
  • Magnetic AC 2D
  • Magnetic AC 3D
  • Supplied Conductors AC
However, when the user switches to this ribbon the circuit window will not be automatically created. To start creating a circuit click on any of the components listed in the circuit designer ribbon. This will automatically
  • Create the circuit designer window
  • Add the circuit component in the circuit designer window
  • Add a circuit designer LBC in the current solution browser.

Once the circuit has been defined, user can close the circuit designer window by simply clicking on the close icon of the circuit designer window. To reopen the circuit designer window, right click on the circuit LBC created in the solution browser and click on edit circuit.

Note: Only one circuit can be defined for a given solution.
Note: Circuit Catalog and Circuit Designer both exist. The Circuit Catalog can be used for quick setup of the solution with predefined circuit, while circuit designer is used when more flexibility is required.

When the database is saved, the circuit will be saved as a separate SCM file at the database location. On reopening the database, the circuit will be automatically loaded.

Note: The SCM file along with the circuit images need to be present at the database location. If this is not the case the circuit will not be loaded when reopening the database.

Apart from saving in the database, in the circuit designer ribbon import and export options are provided. With these options the user can export the circuit which can be reused in another database.

Graphic tools

The following mouse actions can be used for manipulating the circuit designer graphic window:

Command Mouse action
Zoom in Scroll down/ right mouse button drag
Zoom out Scroll up/ right mouse button drag
Pan Middle button drag

There are also some options provided in the circuit designer ribbon to manipulate the positioning of the different circuit elements.

The orient options are used to change the orientation of single components while the align and center tools are used to change the positioning of a group of components. Multiple components can be selected by holding the ctrl button and selecting the components.
