Manipulating the circuit components

Creation of the components

Clicking on any of the electric components listed in the circuit designer will add them to the circuit designer window. The terminals of the components are also automatically created.

Note: Like Flux the circuit components in SimLab also have an orientation. In the case of SimLab the hot point (square mark in Flux) is indicated by the terminal with a solid square, whereas the terminal with the non-filled square indicates the cold point.

Creation of connections

The connections between the circuit components can be created by clicking on any of the component terminals. A “wire” will automatically be created which needs to be connected to another component terminal or to an existing wire to form a parallel connection.

Editing the circuit components

Double clicking on any of the components will open a dedicated dialog box for that component. The characteristics of that component can be entered in this dialog box. For some components like the coil and solid conductor components, bodies from the graphic window can be selected to establish the FEM coupling. The line edits in the component dialog boxes support parameters and units.

Circuit components also support right click options by selecting the individual components. Options like cut, copy, paste and duplicated are supported.

The graphic placement of the components can be manipulated by simply selecting the components and using the left mouse button drag option.

Note: the name of the component is proposed by default, but it is possible to rename it at the creation or after creation by editing component.

Deleting components

Components can be deleted individually or by selecting multiple using the ctrl button or by creating a selection window using the left mouse button drag.
