Surface / Element Output

Analysis > Surface / Element Output

The surface/element output panel is used to specify a surface or element output. This panel is useful when the surface or element of interest does not already have a boundary condition defined yet the result on that particular surface or element is of interest.

  • Surface Output

The Surface option is used if the results needs to be output on a surface in which case the Select faces option is used to select the surface of interest.

    • Floating Surfaces

Users can now request output data at arbitrary locations without modifying/deleting the volume mesh.

The integrated, nodal and statistics output frequency and time interval can be set in the Advanced Options.

    • Integrated output frequency

Time step frequency at which the integrated surface quantities are output. If zero, this option is ignored.

    • Integrated output time interval

Time frequency at which the integrated surface quantities are output. If zero, this option is ignored.

    • Statistics output frequency

Time step frequency at which the statistics of surface nodal quantities are output. If zero, this option is ignored.

    • Statistics output time interval

Time frequency at which the statistics of surface nodal quantities are output. If zero, this option is ignored.

    • Nodal output frequency

Time step frequency at which the surface quantities at the nodes of the surface are output. If zero, this option is ignored.

    • Nodal output time interval

Time frequency at which the surface quantities at the nodes of the surface are output. If zero, this option is ignored.

    • Number of saved states

Number of solution steps to retain on the disk. If zero, all the solution steps are retained.

  • Element Output

The Element option is used if the results needs to be output on a body in which case the Select bodies option is used to select the bodies of interest.

    • Integrated output frequency

Time step frequency at which to output averaged element quantities. If zero, this option is ignored.

    • Integrated output time interval

Time frequency at which to output averaged element quantities. If zero, this option is ignored.
