    - Fiala Tire
      The FIALA tire model serves as the first stepping stone in full vehicle simulation because it is simple enough to be comprehended completely by the MBD analyst. Furthermore, the forces and torques produced by the tire/road interaction use a series of physically meaningful parameters.

The tire model requires a finite element modeling file (.bdf) and other associated files. The AutoTire entity in MotionView provides a utility to generate the required mesh files from a CAD file. The tire can then be transferred to EDEM through MotionView-EDEM coupling interface. PM-FlexTire software is available as an Altair Partner product under the Altair Units licensing system.

Save and Reload Models with CDTire

CDTire supports saving and reloading when included in a MotionSolve model. Upon saving a model using the <Save/> command, CDTire saves its states into an encrypted file with the extension .cdr. For more information on saving and reloading MotionSolve models, please refer to the MotionSolve Reference Guide.

When the model is reloaded using the <Load_Model/> command, CDTire’s saved states are also reloaded during the initialization. The simulation then proceeds.

Note: While CDTires can be used in models that are saved and reloaded, it is recommended not to save a model with CDTire immediately after a Static simulation. A short duration of Transient simulation is required for the model to fully initialize the tires’ states, before a <Save/> command can successfully save them.
