Create Advanced Joints

  1. From the Model Browser, select the system to which the advanced joint is to be added.
  2. Right-click on a system in the Model Browser and select Add > Constraint > Advanced Joint from the context menu.
    OR
Right-click on an advanced joint folder in the Model Browser and select Add Advanced Joint from the context menu.
    OR
From the Model ribbon, click the Advanced Joints icon.
The Add Advanced Joint dialog is displayed.
  3. Specify a label and variable name.
By default, variables names of entities in MotionView follow a certain convention. For example, all advanced joint entities have a variable name starting with “aj_”. This is the recommended convention to follow when building models in MotionView since it has many advantages in model editing and model manipulation.
  4. Select the desired advanced joint type from the drop-down menu.
Note: If you select ConstraintMate, an option will be available to make the joint a pair entity. Pair entities help in creating models which have symmetric properties.
  5. Click OK to close the window or Apply to continue creating entities.
Once an advanced joint entity has been added to the model, the panel for the joint will automatically be displayed in the panel area.
Tip:
  • Select the Create explicit graphics check box to create a graphic associated with the advanced joint.
