Description

The thread portion of the bolt can be modelled in one of several ways. This dialog box shows the different options as pictures. Similar to the head portion of the bolt, thread RBE will be created either by selecting a single edge on the top of the thread portion of the bolt hole or face. At a time more than one top edge can be selected to create multiple thread RBEs for edge based option. Similarly more than one face can be selected for face-based option

Scale – is a factor, which is multiplied by the diameter of each top edge (Bolt diameter) to get the top RBE diameter. User can also enter the RBE diameter. The nodes within the circle of RBE diameter are considered as slave nodes for top RBE.

Depth "D" is the distance from top edge of the thread to the master node of bottom RBE. For 0 depth only the Shape "Down" will be meaningful. Half of the Pitch "P" value above and below the master node of bottom RBE will be considered for including the nodes on the cylindrical face to the bottom RBE. Distance "G" is the interval between the successive sections for the Shape "Sections".

User can define bolt-thread definition without selecting any edges/faces using template option. All the input given will be stored as template for bolt-thread definition and will be listed under "Automation Object" in "Loads and Constraints" browser. This template can be further used in 1d bolt creation.

P/D Ratio as Input for Face based Bolt Thread

Pitch to depth ratio (C) can be given as input for Face based bolt threads by enabling the toggle, "Pitch as ratio of Depth(C)" will be useful to create bolt threads with equal P/D ratio.This option is available for shape - Up from Bottom end and the following types in Face based input.

  • Top and Bottom RBE with Bar
  • Top and Bottom RBE without Bar
  • Bottom RBE with Bar
  • Bottom RBE alone
