Results on Datum Plane

A datum plane can be used either as a clipping plane or to review results.

  1. Plot the results from one of the subcases.
Currently, results can be reviewed for static, modal, or thermal subcases.
  2. In the main menu toolbar, click Use datum plane as clipping plane or review results.
Note: This option allows for two operations, both before and after plotting results for structural, modal, or thermal analysis. It acts as a clipping plane before plotting the results, or it can be used to review the results at the section cut where the datum plane is created.
  3. By default, the All datum planes radio button is selected. When selected, the results are shown at the section cuts for all created datum planes simultaneously.
  4. Select the Selected datum planes radio button.
  5. Select one of the datum planes from the dialog.
The results will be plotted accordingly. Each datum plane can be expanded to reveal the parts that intersected during its creation. Expand each part individually to visualize the slices of each part.
  6. To view results with parts along the section cut, clear the Show results only on datum plane check box.
  7. Optional: Click Toggle side to flip between two sides of the parts.
The section cut is the centre of the chosen datum plane.
  8. Optional: Select Show clipping plane to display the clipping plane in the modeling window.
  9. Optional: Click Zoom to fit the selected datum plane, part, or slice within the modeling window.
