    This example considers the application of analyzing a Wi-Fi router in a building.
    - Example Overview
      This example shows how to define and set up a radio coverage solution in Altair SimLab. The model is a single-storey building with doors and windows, solved using the Dominant Path model (DPM). The model is solved and the results are displayed.

      Before starting this example, ensure that the system satisfies the minimum requirements.

      Open SimLab and configure SimLab to only show the tools relevant to the selected solution.

      The graphics window is used to display and interact with the model. You can zoom, rotate and pan a 3D model using the keyboard, mouse, or a combination of both.

      Set up the XY plane as the sketch plane. The floor plan will be drawn on this plane.

      Change the model units to meters, kilograms, and seconds.

Adding an Antenna

Add a Wi-Fi antenna to the model.

On the Analysis tab, in the Analysis group, click the Antenna icon.
Specify the location of the antenna.
1. Next to the Placement field (see image above), click Create.
2. In the left panel, click C, Rotation.
  
  Note: The Move tool is displayed when clicking in the Graphics window.
3. Click the origin of the Move tool in the Graphics window and drag to where you want to place the antenna or specify the X, Y, and Z values in the dialog.
4. Click the X to close the dialog.
5. Click OK to close the Create Coordinate System dialog.
Specify the antenna type.
1. In the Type drop-down list, select Directional.
2. Next to File name, click Select File and browse to the location of router_FF3D.ffe.
Specify the antenna settings.
1. In the Frequency field, enter 2400e6 Hz.
2. In the Power field, enter 0.5.
3. In the Power unit drop-down list, select W.
Click OK to close the Antenna dialog.

An antenna is created in the Solution Browser.
