Merge Bodies

Geometry > Body > Merge

Description

Follow the steps below to merge two or more bodies into a single body:

  1. Select the bodies to be merged. It can be from different models, but more than one body should be selected in each model.
  2. Click the plus sign (+) symbol on the right side of the Merge icon.
Note:
  • Mesh: Selected bodies should be of same type. Merging a solid body with a shell body is not allowed. When combination of body type is selected, this will group the bodies of same type and do the merge. We can unmerge the merged bodies using Geometry | Body | Unmerge option.
  • CAD (Parasolid): Supported for Parasolid files imported with Save geometry in database option. Here, the selected bodies should be non intersecting and not overlapping. Merging is supported for Solid and Sheet bodies only, but a Solid body cannot be merged with a Sheet body. When combination of body type is selected, this will group the bodies of same type and do the merge. Unlike mesh bodies, Parasolid bodies that are merged cannot be Unmerged.
  • FE bodies: Body based mesh controls such as Body, Region and Volume layer are converted into their respective face-based mesh controls after merge.
