Motor Mesh
Dialog Box

This tool is used to create surface TRI3\TRI6 mesh or solid Wedge6\Wedge15 mesh suitable for motors with periodicity and symmetry mesh.

Element type
Element type is used to create either TRI3 or TRI6 elements in the Stator and Rotor faces.
Mesh Size
Mesh size specifies the required mesh size in both the Stator and Rotor faces.
Stator / Rotor
The stator / rotor faces in the motor model has to be selected.
Number of repetitions and Mirror
Periodicity or repetitions refers to the number of occurrences of similar geometry in the stator/rotor faces. The total angle subtended by these faces are calculated internally. Hence all the faces in the stator faces or the rotor faces has to be selected in the respective face containers.
In each periodic portion, if the geometry is symmetric about a plane, then mirror symmetry exits in the portion and the toggle needs to be turned ON.
In the Stator faces, the geometry is repeated 6 times with mirror symmetry.
In the Rotor faces, the geometry is repeated only once and it has mirror symmetry.
The mesh in each occurrence will be periodic, i.e., if the mesh in 1st portion is rotated by total angle / the number of repetitions, the mesh exactly matches with mesh in the 2nd potion.
Also, the mesh in each portion, will be symmetric about the bisector plane, i.e., Mirror symmetry.
Air gap region
The faces that are between stator and rotor faces is the Air region faces.Air gap region: Mesh size
It is used to specify the mesh size in the air region. The air region usually requires a fine mesh.
Air gap region: Number of elements
It is used to specify the elements count along the circular sector length on the air gap region interface edge.
Extrude
Extrude length
The extrude length is the distance to be extruded.Number of layersIt defines the number of layers of wedge6/wedge15 elements that is desired.
