Key Planes

Mesh > Controls > Key Planes

Introduction

It is used to create/delete hard planes for planar faces that are parallel with any one of the global axis and to review the faces associated with the key planes.

The input can be either CAD or FE faces/bodies.

Create

  • Name

User can specify the key planes name. By default, the name "Key_Planes_1" will be displayed. After each successful creation of keyplane objects, the next consecutive name of the key planes will be automatically displayed.

  • Face

Key planes are created for the selected planar faces that are parallel with global XY, YZ, ZX planes.

  • Body

Key planes are created for the planar faces in the selected bodies that are parallel with specified global XY, YZ, ZX planes.

Merge key planes if closer than

"Merge key planes if closer than" is used to remove the key planes within the specified distance.

It is used to avoid the creation of duplicate key planes at the same location.

Review

Review option is used to visualize the faces associated with the key planes.

Review button is used to identify the faces associated with the selected key planes based on specified tolerance.

The identified faces are added to a face group named "Faces_of_MeshPlanes" and it contains only the faces identified in the last review.

Reset button is used to display the key planes with components.

Delete

Delete option is used to delete the selected key planes in GUI.

Note:
  • The key planes are automatically updated when their associated bodies/faces are modified.
  • The existing key planes can be modified by accessing its object in the mesh control tree.
