Extract and Linearize
In version 2021, the Stress Linearization tool was renamed as Extract-Linearize and now supports both the Extract Data and Stress Linearization methods. Starting in version 2022.2, Strain Linearization will also be supported.
- Extract Data
-
Extract any contour data at various points along a path defined on solid elements.
- Stress or Strain Linearization
-
Extract stress or strain data at various points along a path (also known as stress classification line) defined on solid elements and then calculate linearized stresses or strains based on these extracted values.
Both methods use paths defined on solid elements and therefore, the same path can be used
for either method. However, there are some differences in the extraction and calculation
part as shown in the table below:
To understand these differences and learn more about how each method works, please
refer to the relevant topics below.
Extract Data | Stress or Strain Linearization | |
---|---|---|
Purpose | Extract any contoured data along a path | Extract stress or strain data along a path and calculate linearized stresses |
Resolved in System | Contour Resolved in System | Transformed to a path based local system |
Calculation Data Type | Displayed Contour | Base Stress or Strain Tensor or Displayed Stress or Strain Contour |
Plot Options | Distance along path versus Extracted values (single curve) | Distance along path versus Extracted and Linearized values (multiple curves) |
