SS-V: 1030 Simply Supported Thin Plate
Test No. VS04 Obtain the displacement at the center of a simple supported thin plate for concentrated load and uniform pressure load.
Definition
A square plate simply supported on four edges (Figure 1) is subjected to the following loads (Figure 2):
- uniform pressure
 - concentrated load

The units are IPS.
Because solid model is used, boundary conditions on supported edges are applied along middle lines of these edges (Figure 3).

The material properties are:
    - Properties
 - Value
 - Modulus of Elasticity
 - 1.7472e+7 psi
 - Poisson's Ratio
 - 0.3

Results
The following table summarizes the displacement at the center [in].
      | Theory (Kirchoff's Plate Bending Model) | SimSolid | % Difference | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uniform load | 4.0620E-06 | 4.0748E-06 | 0.32% |
| Point load | 1.1600E-05 | 1.1628E-05 | 0.24% |
