Remote Displacement

Apply displacements to faces and/or spots that are statistically equivalent to a load applied on a single point.

Remote displacement is only available for structural linear and non-linear analysis types.

  1. In the Project Tree, click the Analysis Workbench.
  2. In the workbench toolbar, click the (Remote displacements) icon.
  3. Specify which type of entity will have loads applied.
  4. Optional: If applying to Spots, you can create new spots by clicking Create new spot.
  5. In the modeling window, select the desired face(s) on the model.
The Units and Remote point coordinates fields will become active and automatically populate.
  6. Optional: If necessary, edit the Remote point X, Y, and Z coordinates by clearing the Set at COG check box.
  7. Specify the coordinate system to which the displacement will be applied.
The default is set to the Global coordinate system, which is automatically created upon geometry import.
  8. Define the displacement(s).
    1. Click the Translation and/or Rotation tab.
    2. Select translation and/or rotation units.
    3. Enter the translations and/or rotations directional components in the X, Y, and Z coordinate fields.
  9. Click OK.
