Remote Displacement

Apply displacements to faces and/or spots that are statistically equivalent to a load applied on a single point.

Note: Remote displacement is only available for structural linear and non-linear analysis types.
  1. In the Project Tree, open the Analysis workbench.
  2. In the Analysis Workbench, select Remote loads/displacements > Remote displacement.
  3. Specify which type of entity will have loads applied.
  4. If applying to Spots, create new spots by clicking Create new spot.
  5. In the modeling window, select the desired face(s) on the model.
  6. Optional: If necessary, edit the Remote point coordinates (X,Y,Z) by clearing the Set at COG check box.
  7. Specify the coordinate system to which the displacement will be applied.
The default is set to the Global coordinate system, which is automatically created upon geometry import.
  8. Define the displacement(s) or force(s).
    1. Go to the Translation/Force and/or Rotation/Moment tab.
    2. Select translation/force and/or rotation/moment units.
    3. Enter the translations/forces and/or rotations/moments directional components in the X, Y, and Z coordinate fields. Ensure appropriate options are toggled.
  9. Click OK.
Note: Remote forces/moments created are with rigid link, unlike remote loads with flexible link with the selected faces/spots.
