Geometry > Face > Create > Polygon

Dialog Box

This tool allows you to create a polygonal face as sheet bodies using a closed set of points. The points can be selected with nodes, vertices, or a combination of both.

This option is supported for both CAD and FE bodies.

Restriction:
  • Minimum three points (nodes or vertices) are required for face creation.
  • Selected nodes or vertices should lie on plane, but it should not be collinear.

Steps

  • Define Polygon

Single or multiple boundary loops can be used to define the polygon face.

If multiple loops are selected, with one loop inside another, the polygon faces is created between every alternate loop.

The following steps is used to define loops:

    1. Press the Start button.
    2. Pick the nodes/vertices either in clockwise or anticlockwise direction.
    3. Press the End button for completion of a loop.
  • Clear

Defined loops can also be cleared by the following two ways.

    • All Loops: All the defined loops will be cleared.
    • Current Loop: Current loop definition will be cleared
  • Mesh size

Average element size for the polygon face.

In this example polygon face is created using set of nodes.

Example 2

In this example polygon face is created using set of vertices.
