Define cylinder using Dimensions Define cylinder using Bounding

This tool is used to create cylindrical face as Mesh or CAD entities.

  • Define Cylinder Options
    • Center and point: Left click on mouse and drag to define a cylinder using radius.
    • Dimensions: User can specify the height and radius of the cylinder.
      • Axis: User can choose the global axis to define the cylinder.
      • Center: User can either pick a node, vertex or arc edge to define the center of the cylinder or enter the coordinates value directly.
      • Height: Enter the height of the cylinder.
      • Radius: Enter the radius of the cylinder. Radius will be dynamically updated upon Cylindrical Face or Arc edge selection.
    • Bounding Body: Pick a Body to define the cylinder. The dimensions of the cylinder can be edited.
      • Align to prime cylinder axis: The axis of larger (area) cylinder face in the selected bodies will be used as the cylinder axis.
    • Selected Faces: Select a set of faces to define a cylinder that encloses the given faces.
    • Straight/Arc edge/Group: Pick a straight or arc edge or edge group to define the cylinder.
      • Straight edge: The axis will be defined along the edge.
      • Arc edge: The axis will be created at the center of the arc edge.
    • Cylinder face/Group: Pick a cylinder face or group to define the cylinder.
    • 2 Nodes: Pick two nodes to define the cylinder.
    • 3 Nodes: Pick three nodes. The axis will be created using the plane and the center of the arc formed by the 3 nodes.
    • 2 Vertices: Pick two vertices to define the cylinder.
  • Body Type:
    • CAD: To create CAD (Parasolid) cylinder.
    • Mesh: To create mesh cylinder.
      • Element Type: To create a mesh cylinder, user can specify the element type as Tri3, Tri6, Quad4.
      • No of Elements/Mesh size: User can specify the number of elements along circular and axial directions or Mesh size.
  • Model
    • Existing Model: If this toggle is ON, the cylinder will be added to the specified existing model.
Note: For CAD (Parasolid), only models that were imported with Save geometry in database option will be listed.
    • New Model: If this toggle is ON, the cylinder will be added to the new model.
  • Body Name: User can specify the body name.
