Validate Mesh

Analysis > Mesh > Verify > Validate Mesh

The Validate Mesh tool performs a comprehensive integrity check to verify that all mesh bodies conform to solver compatibility requirements, including element quality, connectivity, and boundary condition consistency.

The following validations are performed:

  • Intersection Check – Detects intersecting elements within the mesh.

For 3D solutions, additional checks include:

  • Solid Body Check – Verifies that mesh bodies are volume meshed. Bodies used to represent thin region boundary conditions are excluded from this check.
  • Bad Volume Elements – Identifies elements that fail the ABAQUS Jacobian error check. For pyramid elements, negative volume is used for evaluation.
  • Periodicity Check – Verifies that periodic boundary conditions involving angular symmetry are properly satisfied.
  • Volume overlap – This check identifies situations where two or more volume elements occupy the same physical space, within a single body or across multiple bodies.

Upon validation, messages indicating success or failure will be displayed. In case of any discrepancy found the failed entities will be organised into groups for easier identification.
