Define Local Enclosure Controls

Use the Enclosure: Local tool to define local enclosure size settings on selected surfaces.

The Enclosure tools work for tessellated geometry. If the input is b-spline geometry, first convert to discrete geometry using the Convert tool.

Generally, local size definitions are required where you want to capture small features. During the enclosure process, selected surfaces will be refined locally.

  1. From the Discrete ribbon, click the Enclosure > Local tool.

    Figure 1.
  2. Select surfaces.
  3. In the dialog, define enclosure size settings.
  4. From the guide bar, execute the command in the following ways:
    • Click to confirm your selection and remain in the tool.

This allows you to continue creating instances and helps you visualize and edit instances with the legend.

    • Click to confirm your selection and exit the tool.
Tip:
  • The enclosure will be able to preserve gaps between parts/surfaces if the defined size is 1/3 the gap size.
  • As a rule of thumb, define the minimum size as 1/3 of the smallest feature you need to capture.
