Fluid Domain

Dialog Box

  • Body based

The fluid domain from a body can be extracted automatically with this option. Supported only for CAD Parasolid bodies imported with ‘Save geometry in database’ option.

    • Wetted faces

By selecting a wetted face from fluid flow region, only that fluid domain will be extracted. If not selected, all fluid domains will be created.

  • Limit Faces

The fluid domain from a body can be created by selecting limit faces (i.e., faces that bound fluid domain) and at least one wetted face in the fluid domain. Supported only for CAD Parasolid bodies imported with ‘Save geometry in database’ option.

    CAD (Parasolid)

  • Wetted Surface
This option is used to create fluid domain using the given wetted faces and inlet / outlet faces. If no Inlet / outlet faces given, the wetted faces free end will get automatically filled. Supported for mesh and CAD Parasolid bodies imported with ‘Save geometry in database option’. For mesh inputs, Wetted faces are shared between input and fluid domain.
    • Re-mesh created inlet / outlet faces

This toggle is used to remesh the newly created inlet / outlet faces.

  • Flow Region

This option is used to create fluid domain using the selected bodies and an orphan node inside fluid region. The input bodies must be volume meshable and should enclose the fluid domain without any leaks.

    Case 1

If fluid domain faces in the input bodies are not part of the shared faces, then the newly created fluid body will have its faces shared with the input bodies.

    Case 2

If fluid domain faces in the input bodies are part of the shared faces, then the newly created fluid body will not have its faces shared with the input bodies. Because a face can not be shared by more than two bodies.
