Register the Vendor in the Portal

Register the vendor license server in the InsightPro for License Analytics portal by filling the vendor registration form.

  1. Login to the InsightPro for License Analytics portal using your credentials.
    The Altair Licensing Analytics dashboard is displayed.

  2. Click Administration tab.

  3. Click Vendor Registration in the menu.
    The Vendors list is displayed.

  4. Click Register a Vendor > Manually Register a Vendor.
    Vendor registration form is displayed.

    Note: Toggle Show optional fields button at the bottom to view all the optional parameters.
  5. Select the Agent on which the vendor registration needs to be done.
  6. Select the Adapter type.

    Note: The input parameters will change based on the Adapter that is selected.
  7. Enter the Vendor Name.
  8. Enter the Frequency at which the licencse statistics must be queried.
    Note: By default the frequency is set to 5 seconds.
  9. Enable Remote Vendor if you want to register a license server that does not exist in the agent machine.
  10. Enter the Port & Hostname value for license server identification.
  11. Enter the values for the following mandatory fields:
    • Query Tool - Path of querytool needed to query the license server (vendor).
    • Query Tool Parameters - Parameters needed to query the license server (vendor).
    • License Filename - Path of the license file of the vendor.
    Note: Toggle Show optional fields button at the bottom to view and enter all the optional parameters.

  12. Click YAML Preview to view vendor configuration file saved on the agent.

  13. Click Ok.
  14. Click Dry run to validate the details before registering a vendor.
    Dry run results will be displayed.

  15. Click Show output link to view Query Tool output from the License server.
  16. Click Close.
  17. Click Publish if the result is successful.

    The vendor information is published to the agent and the agent starts tracking the license usage. Administrator should be able to observe the license session information in the real-time reports.
    Note: The Vendor Registration Form can be used to update the Vendor configuration details and publish them to the Agent.

Vendor Registration for an Air-Gapped Agent

Vendor registration for an air-gapped agent must follow the Step 1 to Step 13.
Note: The Vendor Registration Form can be used to update the Vendor configuration details and publish them to the Agent.

The Step 14 and Step 15 are not relevant in case of air-gapped agent, as they require the agent to be connected to the server.

The following error message will be displayed if you click Dry run

Administrator should publish the vendor registration form to save the vendor details in the database.

Administrator must download the vendor configuration file and copy it to the Air-gapped agent.

Administrator must follow the instructions provided in the Manual Vendor Registration to upload the vendor registration form to the air-gapped agent.
