Organization Hierarchy

Organization Hierarchy provides an easy way to import the data from the Active Directory (AD) after performing validations and cleaning up the data.

Note: Only Administrator and a user with administrative privileges can view and update the Organization Hierarchy.

Software costs represent a significant expense in any organization. Software tends to be very expensive. Corporations establish budgets for different departments, regional locations, or even budgets for managers. All expenses are budgeted for. These can include personnel costs, equipment costs, software costs, administrative costs etc.

If a corporation needs to determine budgets for software expenditures based on historical usage, it is necessary to have information about software expenses for departments or regional offices or managers.

It is possible to define these hierarchies using data available in LDAP or Active Directories, where every user’s record has information about their department, location and reporting manager.

InsightPro for License Analytics includes a graphical module which enables connecting to an LDAP system to import data for all users and then define such structures based on appropriate and available attributes.

After such hierarchical structures are defined, these are available to all Insight Pro modules such as HPC Analytics & Reporting, Software License Analytics and Desktop Software Usage Analytics. These structures enable companies to obtain breakdown and rollup by each defined hierarchy. These structures also enable companies to calculate charge-backs to various departments or regions or Managers based on various usage metrics.
