Seatbelt System

Use the Seatbelt Browser to create a complete seatbelt system.

Restriction: Only available in the LS-DYNA, Radioss and PAM-CRASH solvers.

The Seatbelt Browser consists of two panes. The upper pane is the Seatbelt System structure and the lower pane is the Entity Editor.

  1. From the Safety ribbon, click the Seat Belt tool.
    Figure 1.

    The Seatbelt Browser opens.
  2. Add or remove columns in the Seatbelt Browser as necessary by right-clicking a column and checking or unchecking the appropriate attribute.
  3. You can sort entries in the browser by clicking on the appropriate heading of each column. For fields that are numeric or alphanumeric, repeated clicks toggle between ascending and descending order.
  4. Create a seatbelt system:
    1. In the Seatbelt Browser pane, in empty space, right-click and select Create > SeatbeltSystem.
A seatbelt system is created and displays in the browser.
    2. Edit the seatbelt system entity as necessary by setting or changing values in the Entity Editor.
For more information on seatbelt entities and attributes, see Seatbelt Browser Entities and Attributes.
  5. To update a seatbelt system, right-click the appropriate SeatbeltSystem entity and select Update from the context menu.
Updating allows you to make changes on demand. For example, when the dummy and seat positions have been modified (when the option Link Dummy Mechanism in the seatbelt system Entity Editor is OFF).
  6. Run a penetration check on the system by right-clicking the appropriate SeatbeltSystem entity and selecting Penetration Check from the context menu.
A penetration check allows you to directly check the generated contact for penetrations after a seatbelt mesh has been generated and the option Create Contact is activated.
