Import of a curve starting from a Flux type file

Introduction

The user can import :

  • a 2D curve originating from a Flux project via the command Import 2D Curve – Flux file (txt)

  • a 3D curve originating from a Flux project via the command Import 3D Curve – Flux file (txt)

Command access

The dialogue box associated to the command :

  • Import 2D curve – Flux file (txt) is generic to 3 types of 2D curve and is accessible in the menu Curve by pointing on one of the types-entities 2D curve (path, I/O parameter, material).
  • Import 3D curve – Flux file (txt) is generic to 3 types of 3D curve and is accessible in the menu Curve by pointing on one of the types-entities 3D curve (2D grid, path + I/O parameter, 2 I/O parameters).

Principle

Here are some rules of operation necessary in order to understand the use of this command:

  • The user must select a file*.txt issued from an TXT export of a curve originating from a Flux project.
  • The type of 2D curve (path or I/O parameter or material) or 3D curve (2D grid , path + I/O parameter, 2 I/O parameters ) of this file *.txt is automatically detected during the import.

The curve created after the import action is then automatically stored as a 2D curve or 3D curve entity of the detected type*.

  • The name of the curve is also detected, during the import, in the txt file to which the following information is added: Detected name_Import_1 *.

If this name already exists in the current project, then the name will automatically increment to Detected name_Import_2.

The user still has the possibility to edit the curve and to modify the name...

Note: * Here are examples:
  • if the file*.txt contains a 2D curve of the «path» type, the curve created after importing will automatically be an entity stored in the 2D curve (path)
  • if the file*.txt contains a 3D curve of the «2d grid» type, the curve created after importing will automatically be an entity stored in the 3D curve (2d grid)

Import a curve

To import a 2D curve or a 3D curve starting from a Flux file:

Step Action
1 Open the dialogue box Import 2D Curve – Flux file (txt) or Import 3D Curve – Flux file (txt)
2 Choose the file to import (file*.txt originating from another Flux project by an export of a 2D curve or a 3D curve)
3 Validate by clicking on OK
The curve is created, displayed and stored in the detected curve type
