Computation on physical entities
Introduction
The command Computation on physical entities allows to compute several global quantities for one configuration* of parameters of the solving scenario fix.
- only one varying parameter, as the time or a physical/geometric parameter (mono parametric study)
- several varying parameters ( multi parametric study)
Physical entities
The physical entities represent the support on which it is possible to obtain a computation of global quantities. Its can be:
- a spatial support (category « Region »)
- an electrical component (category « Circuit »)
- a mechanical set (category « Mechanical set »)
Computation process
The process of a computation on physical entities is described below.
Stage | Description |
---|---|
1 | Opening the dialog box by clicking on the menu |
→ | The dialog box is opened |
2 | Choice of one or several global quantities to compute on the different support proposed (Region, Circuit, Mechanical set) |
→ | The different chosen global quantities are listed in the zone Computed formulas |
3 | Validation of the computation by clicking on Compute |
→ | The numerical results* for each requested global quantity appear in the zone Results of computation |
4 |
(optional) Storage of the result by clicking on Store |
→ | The result is stored in an entity and it is put in the Data tree (see the next block) |
5 | Closing the dialog box by clicking on Close |
→ | The dialog box is closed |
Store results
After a computation done, the user have the possibility to store the obtained results. The results are stored as an entity called COMPUTEPHYSIC_1, on the Data tree in the node .
With this stored result, the user can:
- consult it by editing it, (the computation is independent of the current configuration of parameter of postprocessing)
- export it in a file (*.TXT, *.XLS, *.PY, *.XML, Clipboard)
An other method to copy quickly the obtained results is to click on the icon , which is equivalent to a COPY .
Validity of the computation
In front of each global quantity computed with the command Computation on physical entities, a symbol is associated in the zone Results of computation . It permits to give an indication about the validity on the obtained result. It exist 2 symbols of validity:
- : the obtained computation is valid and contains the corresponding numeric value
-
: the obtained computation is invalid and contains the word « Invalid ».
Two possible reasons to explain an invalid result:
- the requested computation is physically impossible (requested global quantity is incoherent on the requested support, for example: computation on a global quantity Volume on a support Face )
- the requested computation is physically possible, but it is not yet available
Update a computation
It exists several possibilities where the requested computation can be automatically updated:
- Possibility 1: after a computation of a list of global quantities, (without close the dialog box Computation on physical entities), the user can change the parameter of the configuration of parameters of the scenario by modifying the step into the selector of step. The current results on the dialog box are automatically updated to correspond with the current configuration of parameters.
-
Possibility 2: after a computation of a list of global quantities, the user closes the dialog box Computation on physical entities. The list of global quantities previously computed is memorized. During the next opening of the dialog box Computation on physical entities the memorized list is displayed and the corresponding results are automatically updated to correspond with the current configuration of parameters.
The user can choose to keep these quantities, to added other quantities, to delete some quantities (line by line) or to delete all the list by the button Clear.
