Get Started with EDEM
The EDEM user interface comprises three icons for each simulation component - Creator, Simulator, and Analyst.

EDEM Analyst is the post-processor used to analyze and visualize the results of your simulation.
- Analyst Tree-Display
  Analyst Tree-Display allows you to configure the display of your model in the Viewer. You can visualize Cylindrical Periodic Boundary conditions from the Geometries section.
- Analyst Tree-Setup Selections
  Analyst Tree-Selections allows you to extract data from a particular area or element in the domain.
- Analyst Tree-Tools
  Analyst Tree-Tools comprises the Ruler, Protractor, and Domain Grid.
  - Use the Ruler
    The Ruler measures the distance between two points. Use it to display the distance between elements in the Viewer.
  - Use the Protractor
    The Protractor measures the angle between elements in the Viewer.
  - Use the Domain Grid
    The Domain Grid is a visual aid used to indicate the scale of your model.
- Analyst Tree-Clipping
  Analyst Tree-Clipping allows you to remove or clip areas of the model that are currently not of interest.
- Analyst Tree-Field
  Analyst Tree-Field allows you to define the way fields are displayed.
- Review Your Simulation
  EDEM Analyst allows you to review and examine your simulation.
- Export Data
  You can export the data collected during your simulation for analysis using queries. Data can be exported from a single Time Step, a range of Time Steps, from all elements in your model, or from a selection or bin group.

  Continuum Analysis allows you to view and analyze your simulation data as a Continuum instead of discrete particles.
- Perform Spray Coating Analysis
  The EDEM spray coating post-processing tools use a ray tracing approach that offer key advantages over the legacy Spray Coating model.

Use the Ruler

The Ruler measures the distance between two points. Use it to display the distance between elements in the Viewer.

To use the Ruler:

From the Tools Section, click Ruler.
Select the Enable checkbox.
For the Start point, select the item to link to.
You can link to a particle, a geometry, or manually define a point in space.
1. Select Link To Particle to link to a particle.
2. Click Pick Particle to change the cursor to a cross-hair.
3. Click on a particle in the Viewer to select the particle to link to.
Repeat the same steps to set the End point.

Note: The current distance between the two points is displayed at the bottom of the Tools tab.
