Connect Hex Bodies

Mesh > 3D Mesh > Hex > Connect

Description

This tool is mainly used to connect or join the hex meshed bodies. It will create shared faces between the bodies.

Side face

This option is mainly used to connect the bodies that are sitting next to each other within a certain tolerance.

  • Matching mesh: This requires the node to node matching between the two bodies that need to be connected. Two or more bodies can be selected as input. The mesh or number of layers in the extrude direction of the bodies need not be the same. Refer fig.(a) for details.
  • Non-Matching mesh: This does not require the node to node matching between the two bodies. Only two bodies can be selected as input. The first body will be preserved and the mesh on the second body will be modified locally to match with the first body. Refer fig.(b) for details.

Top face

This option is mainly used to connect the bodies that are sitting on top of each other within a certain tolerance. Only two bodies can be selected as input and both of them should be flat bodies.

Merge bodies

When this is ON, the connected bodies will be merged.

Preserve body

This toggle is enabled only for the 'Side face - Matching mesh' option and 'Top face' option. When this is ON, only two bodies can be given as input to connect and out of those two bodies one has to be given as a preserved body. The mesh in the preserved body will be used to modify the mesh in the other body and connected.
